This blog will include my unkempt thoughts on science, politics, music, wombats and cats. Breaks will be allowed for attending to your real job, naps, thirst and fatigue. Greetings.

An Interesting Prospect

In answer to a help wanted ad, I received the following:

Sirs,Madames,

i am a gud cat wrangler. i have also wrangled wombats and
have the scars to pruv it. i wuld like to clean bottles make tea
and slop out pig pens. i will be a gud slopper.
it is true that i burp and snore but mostly i draw the line at
flatulation so stop saying that. i wud never snore or flatulate at work that anyone wud find out about. im told there is a vacant third floor office with no pa system nor printer
and i no that i cud do my work in that office and if anyone asks i can blame it on the dogs.

yours,
in christ,
have a blessed day

ignatious wombat

The problem is that the position advertised was for a Supervising Attorney in a mid-sized Civil Law firm.

Update: Upon reviewing the other resumes received we have decided to interview Mr. Wombat.

Mr. Bush begins his Autobiography

“Evil men obsessed with ambition and unburdened by conscience must be taken very seriously, and we must stop them before their crimes can multiply.” George W. Bush, October 6, 2005

When I first heard this I thought "Great googly-moogly, he's going to resign!" Turns out he was referring to some other bastard. Perhaps they should form a club!

A budget only his mother could love.

The Raw Story has a brief breakdown of Mr. Bush's new budget. Looks like more lean years for the elderly, sick, poor and all other non-corporate citizens. Shocking that he didn't mention it during his photo-op at Mrs. Kings funeral...

Oh, the taint! the taint!

Talkingpointsmemo.com has more on the new republican leader and folks, he just looks better and better. But the smell? Did he roll in a pile of Newt or what?

Bold choice to lead us forward into the 15th century

With their slimy practices exposed to the world, the Republicans take the bold course of annointing a character beamed from colonial Jamestown to lead them forward. Here's a guy who supports Intelligent Design, mandatory school prayer, religious discrimination in poverty programs, and demands control of the uterei of America. Oh, and he had a little ethics problem shilling for the tobacco industry too.
Take a look at the face of the Republican future, John Boehner, at Americablog and NJDC.org.

And unto them a blog was born, and lo....

Yesterday I ran across a posting by some self-described christian who was lambasting some other christians for casting a (hands over junior's ears now!) gay actor in the role of someone who was "martyred". The post included a sly statement that I felt contained a threat of violence to the filmakers. Subsequent postings upped the ante by adding gobs of homophobia and stirring in some inter-christian hatred that would warm the hearts of bigots everywhere.
My first thought was to join the string. Instead I decided to blog. I've been a fan of Pharyngula, Jesus' General, Fafblog and others for some time now and I figure it's time to stop lurking and start talking. From the beginning America has been one big tussle between Puritans and Rationalists. I'll put my money on the side of reason.
